Mikhail Lezin / Chad Golda [Spilt]

a few weeks ago i received an email from a nice russian fellow named Mikhail. he wanted to put together a split album between us of new 'electronic' music. i used the opportunity to feature some audio samples i recorded while abroad in prague, cz.

i dont know how 'electronic' the music turned out to be... but my latter half of the split features an old family heirloom, a player piano that is slightly out of tune but still has a great sound.

the split album came to be known as 'Home Crafts Sequence/ABROAD'. Mikhail has fun tracks on there too, and i am glad he came to me with a new way to release some instrumental music.

this month i found myself founding a music label here in fort collins, WRITING RECORDS. the first release will be the entire 'Book of Songs' collection.

the album can be downloaded online *here*. or visit WRITING RECORDS online to read more.

this album compiles three volumes into one 28 track album with a running time of just over a hour and a half. all original music. record july 16th, 2010 to january 28th 2011. check the session archive to find the book of demos for volumes two and three.

a lot of music here i hope you enjoy.

Book of Songs [Volume One]

writing this album, i found something inside myself. a need to say what needed to be said. a voice. not my voice, but a voice of listening. listening to myself. volume one sets the stage for this book of songs, which is a real notebook of mine with all these songs written within. this album is only the first quarter of the notebook. now it's filling up, with volumes 2 and 3 complete.

volume one was recorded in one day. 12 hours. from noon to midnight on july 16th 2010. in the basement of the snowden house, i recorded acoustic tracks. the piano is a family heirloom, which is an old player piano with over 100 scrolls of classic songs. it hasn't been tuned in years, but sounds amazing in a small upstairs room with natural reverb.

the session included three more songs, 'let it be myself' , 'what i thought' and 'outro'. they had been all the songs written until that point. when i wrote the title for 'let it be myself' on my own index page, i had written it much father down the page than the other songs. as more songs were being written, i realized this was the natural progression to volume two.

enjoy volume one for today. listen to the 'book of demos volume one' for some interesting versions of songs recorded in apartment two while writing the album. thanks for listening, reading, and being. see you in the world.

several of my paintings are being shown at the ON*DISPLAY gallery in downtown fort collins. really nice people over there so go check out some great artwork and music.

ill be playing music outside the gallery on oct. 1st at 5pm. outside. on the street i believe. or sidewalk at least. but should be fun.

and ill be playing an other show oct. 16thth at 1pm at spotlight music store in fort collins. space indians may be playing. depends on a plane flight but ill be there.

i got a new 'double' album coming out april 24th with Rack and Ruin Records.

the album is entitled '[FASTER THAN BECOMING THE PAST TASTING YOUR OWN TEMPERATURE]'

the first album is some new down tempo tracks i have been working on. and the second is an acoustic album of songs i have been writing for a couple months now. i am really proud of this album. and i feel a great relief putting this music out. a very personal album that i hope people will enjoy.

also i uploaded a track to my archive account that i recorded july 2009 when i was first coming up with the rhythms for my Dance Session release. these tracks, besides the basic rhythms sound nothing like the tracks on Dance Session. I suggest people stream it below or download it from my archive HERE!

most of them, expect for 6/7 are all single shot videos without any cuts. many of them employ effecting the tape speed, reverse, brightness/contrast, and colours. but for the most part, a single view for a single song. i hope you enjoy.
